For More Information,

Just recieved my emery cat and I have to say that the base is sooooo cheap! Packaging plastic is stronger than this. I will be surprised if it lasts a month
My cat loves it, even without catnip.
My primary complaint is that it doesn’t “trim” her claws, it hones them to an even sharper point, but she has cut back on digging the furniture.
Yes, I agree, super cheap base. And the Emery Cat automated ordering system is misleading. I ended up with four scratchers! My gentile cat won’t use it. She doesn’t like the gritty texture. My brother’s cat won’t use it either. A major rip off.
I actually love using my PediPaws pussy-cat claw trimmer, my cat loves it too, well as much as a cat can, LOL. She sits still for it and she doesn’t claw my couch and woodwork anymore. It did take two times before she was OK with it but she did come around to it, and I like that she will be able to knead my shoulder now and it does not hurt. I definitely got my money’s worth out of this trimmer, I’m totally satisfied.
I fell for the commercial and web site. Wish I hadn’t. Cheapest item I’ve ever bought. Cats liked the cat toy for about 2 minutes; that’s about how long it lasted, then it broke. It seems too rough for them to like the feel. Cats like to dig into stuff, and this is too hard to dig into. Plus, as Susan said, the base is just thin junky plastic… oh it smells weird too. Other than those things, it’s great.
This thing was the biggest waste of money and also the biggest scam I have ever come across. The website is misleading and charged me for 6 of these stupid cat scratchers, with no way to get a refund!!!!!!! Try calling the number!! Nothing but automated B.S.!!! On top of that my cats will have nothing to do with this POS. It is cheap, made in China, and probably loaded with lead particles. Do yourself a favor and do not waste your money on this stupid thing!!!!!!!!
Sorry, forgot to leave my rating……which would be less than zero….
Cheap!!! our cats broke the ‘cat toy’. Although we ordered one unit, the first shipment came with 4, the second shipment I did not open, but sent all shipments back. This explains the $160.00 charge on my credit card. Spoke with Porsha, apparently from some call center, who was going to send a refund ticket, blah, blah, blah. Still waiting.
Has anyone had any problems with their cat eating the surface?
and any problems of illness and so on.
ps
worried about my cat eating the board.
I’m trying to get the word out that the emery board might be very dangerous if the cat eats the surface. My cat got really sick and was vomiting a lot. I took her to the Vet and was told that she has large amounts of plant substance in her stool. Since I don’t have plants in the house, he said that it is paper or cardboard that she has been eating. The only thing I can think of is this board since she was using it all the time. She was chewing it because of the cat nip. She is now on a special diet and taking pepcid ac. She is still vomiting and is in danger of becoming dehydrated. Please do not let your cat use this product! I hate seeing her this sick and wish I never wasted the money. And now I have vet bills on top of it! They should be out of business.
Cats will not use it. The website duplicates your order with no way to change it. They even charge PST/GST on top of the shipping.
My cat broke it in LESS THAN ONE MINUTE. Rating should be -5 but can only go as low as 1
THIS IS A BIG SCAM!!! Do not buy this product. The commercial and website are completely misleading. I accidentally ordered 2 sets and they charged me $87.50. When I called to change my order they said they couldn’t view my order for 3 days and to call back then. When I called back 3 days later they said the order had alredy shipped and they couldn’t change it. All I can do is wait for the order to arrive and send it back for a refund MINUS THE $15.00 S&H CHARGE. THIS IS HOW THEY MAKE THEIR MONEY ON THIS HORRIBLE CHEAP PRODUCT. Total scam. Spread the word!!!
This product is awful. my cat loved the toy more than the board. They would not stay on it at all and I am so glad I did not purchase any of the inserts. The ad that says that they will rub their paws on it are crazy. They are having more fun with the cheaper scratch board. Don’t waste your money.
We did’nt buy the emery board from the website but found it at a Walgreens, we paid more for it because we didn’t get the second board like the commerial advertises. We have three cats, only one of them will use the emery board and he’s used it so much that he has dug a hole in the cardboard! Now trying to find a replacement pad. I would rate it a five maybe; not sure if its actually trimmed the cat’s claws, but he likes it. See him using it several times a week.
What a waste of money. My cats won’t use it. I place it near the furniture and they claw at the furniture, even with the catnip, which just leaves a mess. They took the feather toy and play with that, but the emery board is useless and left scratchy sand all over my floors when I opened the package. No wonder they double the order and don’t offer a satisfaction guarantee.
HORRIBLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! As soon as I opened it up, all this gritty stinky sand spilled all over my counter and floor. My cats hate it!!!!! It has a terrible chemical smell that turns them off. i’ll stick to the cardboard ones, they’re not stinky.
Thought since my cat loves the scratchers but they make her nails razor sharp, that I could kill 2 birds with one stone by buying this, but that is not the case.
The stupid little toy fell off in the first 5 minutes. She has no use for it. The sand, of whatever it is, on the surface make her relunctant to use it…so it mostly just sits there.
She does use it every now and then, but she scatches in the same spot everytime so that there is no sand where she’s clawing and it still doesn’t help the razor sharp claws….which is why I wasted money the it in the first place.
I would definately not recomment this product to anyone!
EmeryCat is a piece of crap. It looks great on tv and the idea is great but the brown tray the cardboard sits in is cheap plastic and not sturdy at all. The cardboard feels like heavy grade sand paper. My cat would not touch it. Major waste of money. Also the brushes that come with it are not very effective in grooming.
Bought one at Walgreen’s with a store coupon that cut the price in half. But even at $10 it’s a waste of money. My cat won’t touch the scratching part, although she does love the feather toy that comes with it and she does love to poke her small toys under the Emery Cat and then “find” them again. But as far as her using it as a scratcher, no way.
I’m glad I’m not the only one that thinks this thing is useless. I bought mine at Rite Aid for $19.99. My cats broke the toy before I even got the stupid thing set up on the floor. Who’s idea was it to put a cat toy on a thin, hard plastic wand with no spring? DUH.
My cats wouldn’t even touch the scratcher part. Thank heavens for their cat tree and scratching post, because the Emery Cat sat untouched until I just gave it away. Hopefully my daughter’s cats will like it and use it. But I’m not holding my breath.
Just ordered 4 emery cat scratchers, after halfway through ordering I realized it was a scam and tried to back out but couldn’t. Tried calling to cancel order but they said to call back tomorrow, called to late in the day and couldn’t get through. Tried the next day, they said the order has been sent, so just send back what you don’t want for a refund minus shipping and handling which ends up being around $35 in U.S. money. Screwed if we keep them and screwed if we don’t. I wish I found this sight before I started ordering, I will send them back and take the $35. loss.
I don’t know why this product is even sold. It in no way trims a cats nails, it only makes them sharper! I’ve worked in animal rescue for years and we use the same exact thing but in a circular form in the kennels so the cats have something to scratch. Since we can’t put a scratching post in all their kennels we use these. They are cheap! Like $3.00 for two and they last for months. I wish someone would sure these guys for false advertising, the only way to trim a cats nails is to trim them, this only helps keep them in tip top sharpness….
Crystals may be dangerous. I opened my package and was in the process of setting it up when I relaized my finger tips were in pain. Whatever material the crystals became embedded in my fingers and caused sharp pains to intermitently effect my fingers. This went on for 3 weeks. It reminded me of getting fiberglass insulation into your skin. Needless to say I didn’t give it to the cat.
Both cats ignore the board… they came by a couple times to sniff the catnip, but that was it. I can’t believe I wasted $20 on this.
Emery Cat Board Chemical Coating Flakes Off
We just bought one and I noticed the coating flaking off, and my cat eating catnip off the board. I thought, what the heck is this stuff? The company doesn’t tell you what the chemical coating is, but the cats get it on their paws and lick it off. I don’t want them eating some strange chemicals. They have stomach problems in the first place. I’m throwing mine in the trash right now!!! If you care about your cats, you won’t risk their health over some dumb product!
